Bonnie Dawson Clow, a native Mid-westerner, is a graduate of Kansas State University, and attended the Kansas City Art Institute.

After finishing a twenty year career as an Art Instructor, Bonnie now devotes full time to her sculpture.   The stoneware she creates are always unique caricatures of the animal world, and many times her choice of subjects reflect a lifelong concern for the preservation of wildlife.

She begins each piece, not only with research, knowledge, and love for the animal, but with an active imagination to capture each subject’s individual personality.   Each sculpture begins with a slab of stoneware clay, and in a few hours from the hands of its sculptor,  it emerges into a very special work of art.   “The motivation for all my work is a need I have to express something about the animal kingdom, a very human trait in which my feelings can be felt and shared by the viewer.   Animals express themselves with subtle gestures and very human like expressions, so I have always aimed for that in my compositions and appearances of my sculpture.”

“I don’t believe all art should be reserved only for the complex social or philosophical statements.   As I work with each animal form, it extends to me a simple invitation into a wonderful whimsical world where frogs wear hats, kangaroos play golf, and fantasies come true.  

I hope this feeling extends to the viewer and collector.”

An award winning sculptor, Bonnie Clow’s works are displayed in galleries, private and public collections across the United States and in several foreign countries.
